From 9.30 to 12pm (Please allocate 15 minutes more just in case as we can go a little bit over sometimes) + our friendship cuppa at the end.
How do we connect and what is forest bathing?
What is it?
A Japanese practice also known as shinrin-yoku which simply involves being calm and quiet in the forest. Imagine being silent for a couple of hours, connecting with nature, re-connecting with your senses, and practicing mindfulness.
How do we practice?
Being present: No phone, no talking, nowhere to go, no agenda
Being observant: We may look at the shapes, feel the texture of the ground, and the bark of the trees. We listen to the sounds, breathe the fresh air mindfully, inhale, exhale, we feel, we smell, we taste.
I also offer few gentle yogi stretches at the start.
What are the benefits?
The list is large and everyone enjoys this practice in their own way. However here some of the common benefits:
Forest bathing contributes to lowering our cortisol levels, the stress hormone and thereby contributes to distressing. It can help you focus and remember things because you feel calmer and you learn "to be mindful". As your nervous system calms down, you may feel less anxious, your worries and thoughts may slow down etc. your blood pressure may improve etc. Forest Bathing helps to improve your mental and physical health.
What we enjoyed so far:
October 24- Autumn sensory & Mindful forest walk (Charity walk)
Fabulous weather, vibrant colours, another lovely walk: We made a Mandala (See gallery), enjoyed few yoga moves, hugged trees, meditated, connected with our senses. We were blessed by the visit of few deers just at the end of the walk (What a magical send off!) and a lovely "friendship cuppa" at the local Pub.
We raised £35 for Turning Tides "Ending Homelessness"
September 24-End of the Summer. We were blessed with the weather and enjoyed stretching, breathing and reflecting right in the heart of the forest. Most beautiful trees to hug!
July 24- Connecting and celebrating Summer & Nature
Outdoor yoga & a mindful and sensory forest walk.
May 24- With Spring in mind: Introductory Mindfulness walk & Yoga workshop
20/01/24- WINTER Wellness Workshop "Aroma yoga": A beautiful blend of yoga and essential oils.
